BOGOSLOVSK ALUMINIUM SMELTER

The Bogoslovsk Aluminium Smelter is an alumina and aluminium complex. It is the third largest alumina producer in the CIS. The complex produced its first alumina in 1944 and in 1945 first aluminium was produced.

Its main products are primary aluminium, alumina, anode paste, aluminium alloys, underseals.

In 2007 the smelter produced 184,000 tonnes of primary aluminium and 1.1 million tonnes of alumina.

The smelter employs 5,040 people.

 Geography

Krasnoturyinsk (named Turyinskiye Rudniki until 1944) is a town in the Sverdlovsk region in Russia, located on the Turya river, 370 km north of Yekaterinburg. It has a population of 64,600 people. Its main production facilities are an aluminium smelter, iron ore and gold extraction mines.
