UC RUSAL SPONSORS MOSCOW SOLOISTS' CONCERTS IN CHINA

UC RUSAL presented the Moscow Soloists, a prominent Russian orchestra, to China . The orchestra, conducted and directed by the well-known musician Yuri Bashmet, gave three unique concerts at the Shanghai Oriental Arts Centre on December 23, the Beijing Poly Theatre on December 24 and the Guangzhou Xinghai Concert Hall on December 25.

UC RUSAL is fully committed to sustainable development principles in its worldwide expansion strategy and puts a strong emphasis on meeting the aspirations of the countries where the company operates. UC RUSAL currently owns Linshi cathode plant in Shanxi province and is considering expanding its operations in the region due to the favourable conditions that Russian businesses enjoy in China .

The concerts mark the symbolic finale of more than 500 events held in Russia and China within the framework of the Russia-China themed years. Economic cooperation and cultural exchange between the two countries have been proactively encouraged by the countries’ leaders over the past two years.

Famous pieces of music by Peter Tchaikovsky and Igor Stravinsky, performed by Russia’s most revered musicians, are UC RUSAL’s contribution to developing the partnership between Russia and China .

“UC RUSAL is delighted to present this musical gift to the Chinese people. We strongly believe that our growing relationship with our Chinese colleagues will be long-term and mutually beneficial. With significant aluminium and alumina excess capacities, adherence to the highest environmental standards, close proximity to hydro energy resources in Siberia and a highly competitive technology base, UC RUSAL has much to offer our partners in China and we look forward to expanding our presence in the country,” said Artem Volynets, Director for Corporate Strategy, UC RUSAL.

The Moscow Soloists orchestra, founded in 1992 by world-renowned violist Yuri Bashmet, is recognised as “the voice of the nation”.

The Moscow Soloists have performed in 40 countries worldwide, and their diverse repertoire comprises classical and contemporary masterpieces.
