the past few years RUSAL plants have provided charity assistance
to orphanages in the regions where the company operates.
By making one-off donations and by participating in programmes
aimed at improving
children's living conditions, RUSAL has come to deeply
understand that the range of orphanage problems goes well beyond
a lack of funding for satisfying basic needs. Support is also
required to improve staff qualifications, implement modern methods
of work with children, develop programmes for social adaptation
of orphans etc.
In 2004 RUSAL initiated the «Into the future together»
programme in order to optimise the social rehabilitation environment
for the normal development of orphans in orphanages and their
preparation for independent living.
The programme «Into the future together» includes the following aspects:

Material security of orphanages required for programme
implementation;

Professional development of staff at orphanages: training,
consulting, conducting qualification improvement programmes;

Work with children provides for implementation of new approaches
and methods of work with orphans in orphanages, and creating
conditions for development of independent life skills.
Work within the «Into the future together» charity programme takes place
at the following children's establishments:
In the framework of the 2004-2007 programme, education
programmes for employees working with children have been conducted. The topics
of the workshops and training sessions are discussed with the staff
of the establishments and should meet their professional development
needs. The representatives of consulting organisations visit orphanage
events, analyse and discuss the work according to the new methods
in conjunction with the staff, find out and work on continuous
improvement together.
In November 2007, UC RUSAL announced the bid inviting providers
of educational services for the staff of high schools, orphanages and social
& rehabilitation centres for minors. These juvenile institutions were
chosen for membership in UC RUSAL’s initiative ‘Together to the future’ aimed
at career and professional advancement through new educational aids, techniques
and methods helping adults to bond with children, and also a course of social
engineering.
During the course, from February 2008 to January 2009, the staff
who are invited to participate in this educational initiative will attend
theory classes and go for practical experience in high schools, orphanages and
rehabilitation centres. A successful service provider will need to map out an
educational programme and describe the organisation of support by tutors for
students during practical lessons.

2007 at UC RUSAL Social Centre or any of its offices.
