Implementation of the environmental strategy

Production facilities are being equipped with gas treatment systems with a 99% absorption capacity for hydrogen fluoride and at least 97% for tarry substances and benzopyrene.

	The company sponsors scientific research and monitoring of wildlife reserves across its operational jurisdictions.
	Plans are in place to begin creating and applying more environmentally friendly methods of power generation, in the first instance by using hydro power plants.
	By 2015 UC RUSAL will reduce its direct greenhouse gas emissions across the company's existing smelters by 50% and plans to convert all operations to environmentally safe aluminium production.
	Introduction of universal energy-efficient technology will help to reduce harmful emissions by 20%
	The company is currently working to eliminate anode effects in aluminium production.
	Plans are in place to increase the proportion of recycling undertaken which can help to reduce pollution, by 95%.
	Production of vertical anodes made from environmentally friendly materials will be launched.
