TAKE A STEP BEYOND THE HORIZON

The purpose of ‘Take a step beyond the horizon’ initiative is to support self-improvement, pro-activity, creativity, entrepreneurial approaches and a healthy lifestyle among the young people and to prepare the young generation for their direct involvement in the society’s life.

The first contest was held in 2006. 219 ideas were submitted, and 32 out of this number were backed by the Expert Council with further financing from the Company’s budget allocated to develop the initiative (up to RUR 300,000, or appx. USD 12,000 for each). Since the projects began, the contest winners organised tours around their regions to study local popular, ethnic and cultural traditions and beliefs, and also collect rare facts in the history of their homeland. Some of these projects helped the young participants to have a much better understanding of the labour market, or give them useful tips for job interviews with their potential employers. But there were also projects which brought along the spirit of voluntary work.

This initiative is for the people aged from 14 to 30.

THE CONTEST’S NOMINATIONS

The applicants suggest organizing festivals, ethnographic expeditions, seminars and round tables, creating youth television and information recourses about employment for school children and students and other kind of activities.
