UC RUSAL SOCIAL INVOLVEMENT IN GUINEA
United
Company RUSAL takes an active part in the social life of the countries it
operates in and views social investment as a critical element of sustainable
development. We believe that the successful growth of our business should
contribute strongly to the prosperity of the region of our presence.
An example of such approach is
Guinea
, a country that holds a truly special place in the
history of our company’s development. Guinea became home to RUSAL’s first
foreign project back in 2001 when the company signed an agreement with Guinean
government, taking over the management of the Compagnie des Bauxites de Kindia
(CBK), a mining complex, developing the world’s largest bauxite deposit. In
December 2002, UC RUSAL obtained control over Friguia (ACG), the single alumina
refinery in Africa located in
Guinea
.
Today our logo is well recognised
in
Guinea
. We have become the largest foreign employer in the
country. Over the past 7 years the company has repeatedly confirmed its
reputation as a reliable, efficient and highly professional company that plays
an active role in the country’s social life, contributing to the development of
infrastructure, culture, education, sports, youth initiatives and professional
education of young specialists.
We realize that successful
business requires sustainable environment. That’s why we aim to contribute
strongly to the well balanced social and economic development of the countries
of our presence. We believe that constructive dialogue between business and
society is a path to sustainable future.
